I need to practice my interiors, so these are some experiments at making quick concept sketches with some colour info to indicate mood. They lack detail at this level but could be taken further, my aim was to make the light interesting and the scene feel dramatic but to keep it just at the concept sketch level. Each took approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

1 or 2 hours of fiddling around with gamut ranges. I found them helpful to start with in laying down the colours, especially getting the contrast between the light and shade. I think it could have used a bit more pre-planning for what the image would actually be.

It's finally out! I'm responsible for the paintings of Abe and another leader (not sure I am allowed to say which!). Its odd to see my work featured so much in a product, I'm really happy that the good folks at FFG liked what I had done. Here is some more artwork that I have recently completed.

These are a series of practice heads from reference, I'm trying to improve my rendering skills and construction of the head. I really feel the one featured above is what I want to aim for in my style of work, keeping it loose but retaining the general form. I hope to move onto some female heads, then move to the body and gestures! These were a lot of fun to paint.

Here are some concepts I created with Opus Artz Studios, a fantastic group of talent who I love working with!

Dangerous Ink

I have painted my first magazine cover for the great mag "Dangerous Ink". They have interviewed Richard O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen! I sadly didn't get time to do something for Ray as well. I met Mr Harryhausen years ago at a little animation conference at a cinema where he talked about his career, it was amazing - but he also brought all of his models!
